Eight popular, light-up shoes sold at Big W are being recalled urgently
Product Safety Australia has recalled Caprice Australia's light-up thongs due to fears that the two batteries could be a safety hazard for young youngsters.
The thongs come in a range of designs, including Barbie, Frozen, Spiderman, Star Wars, L.O.L Surprise! OMG, and all about video games .
Caprice Australia's light up thongs (above) have been recalled because of concerns that the two batteries could pose a danger to children.
PSA stated that the small battery compartment in the thongs might be exposed in time, making access to the two small buttons more accessible to children.
If young children gain access to the batteries in the button and ingest them, they could suffer severe internal burn injuries, which can result in serious illness or death,' it said.
The batteries in button batteries also pose the risk of choking for young children.'
The thongs have been available for purchase online and in store at Big W since September 7 , 2020, but have not been sold since May 11 , 2022.

The thongs were available online and in store at Big W since September 7, 2020, but they have not been sold since May 11, 2022.
Customers are advised to immediately stop using the shoes and return them to any Big W Australia store for full refund.
